Sunday Social (108)

Social Sunday
Linking up with Ashley and Neely for the Sunday Social

1. What was your college major? Did you ever change majors?
Funny story. Mostly in the UK people don't have 'majors' you just do a degree. I did however start out doing a major in Music with a minor in Politics. I did this for a year, then I figured out that this wasn't leading to a job. So I quit my course and moved to a different university and changed to a degree in Quantity Surveying.

2. What is the best purchase you’ve made lately?
My 'Galaxy Gear'. It talks to my phone to the extent I can even reply to texts and answer calls. This is so useful when your hands are usually occupied with walking aids. It also has a tiny camera.

3. What is something silly we don’t know about you and go…
I am obsessed with the collection of knowledge. Nothing that is useful. Just knowing things. The states and state capitals of the US, all the countries of the world, flags, naming the kings and queens of England, and on and on it goes. Sporcle is an excellent website to test your progress :-)

4. What is your favorite Holiday?
Christmas! We decorate for Christmas in this house as soon as Halloween is over. Our living room becomes a grotto!

Answer me this . . the occasisonal perils of public transportation

1. How often do you take public transportation?
Hardly ever. I'm lucky enough to get assistance from Access to Work which means I get a cab to and from work the days that I work. I do take the bus, train and tube when I go anywhere on weekends or other occasions. We're lucky that there are four major bus routes that run past the end of our street which take you into town, or to the station or tube station. Then you're on national rail or the underground.

2. How many cousins do you have?
Two first cousins. I'm lucky enough to be very close to them as we spent a great deal of time together growing up. It's almost like having an extra brother and sister. I have loads of second cousins, scattered all of the place - about a dozen I think.

My cousins, brother and me (top right)

3. Have you ever fired a gun?
No. There isn't much or a gun culture in the UK. Generally unless you go hunting or paint-balling there isn't much of a call for guns.

4. Do you ride roller coasters?
Hardly ever. The last time was in Blackpool about fifteen years ago! Before that Chessington about twenty years ago. I'm afraid of heights, and don't trust the man-made nature of the things.

5. What's your favorite flower?
I'm a cliche. Roses. Deep red roses, white roses, pale pink roses. They made up my wedding bouquet, nothing else, just roses.

6. Are you allergic to anything
Aspirin and Ibuprofen. Irritatingly. Most effective painkillers and I can't take them!!
